Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid
The vapor canister purge solenoid opens under ECM control to draw stored fuel vapors from the charcoal canister into the intake manifold to be burned, completing the evaporative emissions cycle. Signs of failure include: a check engine light with a purge solenoid code, a rich running condition caused by a stuck-open solenoid flooding the engine with vapors, or an EVAP system that fails a purge flow test. Replace a faulty purge solenoid to restore proper EVAP system operation.
