The vacuum switching valve controls the flow of engine vacuum to various actuators and emission control components, directing vacuum to the correct system at the correct time based on ECM commands. Signs of failure include: a check engine light with VSV-related codes, rough idle caused by a stuck-open valve introducing uncontrolled vacuum, or an emissions control system that is not functioning correctly. Replace a faulty vacuum switching valve to restore proper vacuum-controlled system operation.
