The camshaft position sensor monitors the position and speed of the camshaft and sends that data to the engine control module to time fuel injection and ignition precisely. Signs of failure include: a check engine light with a camshaft sensor code, hard starting or a no-start condition, rough idling, stalling, or noticeably poor fuel economy. Replace a faulty camshaft position sensor to restore correct engine timing and smooth performance.
