The headlight relay switches power to the headlights when the headlight switch is activated, protecting the switch contacts from the high current drawn by the headlight bulbs. Signs of failure include: headlights that do not illuminate when switched on, or one or both headlights that have stopped working despite good bulbs and fuses. Replace the relay to restore full headlight switching.
