Engine coolant circulates through the engine and radiator to regulate operating temperature, prevent freezing in cold weather, prevent boiling in hot weather, and inhibit internal corrosion. Signs that fresh coolant is needed include: coolant that has changed color or become murky, a low coolant level, overheating, or coolant that tests outside the acceptable freeze protection range.
