The canister vent solenoid controls airflow through the EVAP canister during purge and leak detection cycles, and must close completely for the system to hold pressure during a leak test. Signs of failure include: an EVAP leak code despite no leaks found in the system, a vent solenoid that is stuck open preventing the system from pressurizing, or a failed EVAP monitor. Replace a faulty vent solenoid to allow the EVAP system to seal and test properly.
