The brake hydraulic hose is the flexible section of the brake line that spans the gap between the rigid chassis lines and the moving caliper at each wheel, flexing with every suspension movement. Signs of failure include: a soft or spongy brake pedal, visible cracks or bulging in the hose exterior, a caliper that will not release because the hose has internally collapsed, or fluid seeping from the hose body. Replace cracked or internally damaged hoses immediately - a burst brake hose causes total loss of braking at that wheel.
