Caliper bushings allow the caliper to slide smoothly on the guide pins, ensuring it self-centers over the rotor and both pads wear at the same rate. Signs of worn bushings include: uneven pad wear where one pad is significantly more worn than the other, a dragging brake that causes overheating, or a caliper that will not slide even after the pins are cleaned. Replace worn bushings to restore smooth caliper movement and even pad wear.
