The oil pan is the reservoir that holds the engine's supply of oil at the base of the engine, and is vulnerable to impact damage from road debris and improper jack placement. Signs of a damaged or leaking pan include: an oil puddle directly under the engine, a sudden loss of oil pressure from an impact hole, or a stripped drain plug hole. Replace a damaged oil pan to protect the entire lubrication system and prevent catastrophic oil loss.
