The steering angle sensor monitors the direction and rate of steering input and sends this data to the electronic stability control system, which uses it to detect and correct oversteer or understeer conditions. Signs of failure include: a stability control or traction control warning light, stability control that activates unnecessarily or not at all, or the system requiring a steering angle calibration after the light is cleared. Replace a faulty sensor and perform the required calibration to restore full stability control function.
