The trailing arm is a rear suspension link that connects the rear axle or wheel carrier to the chassis, controlling fore-aft wheel position and allowing the suspension to travel vertically. Signs of failure include: a clunking noise from the rear suspension, a rear wheel that has shifted out of its normal position, a toe angle that cannot be corrected by alignment, or a visible bend in the arm from an impact. Replace a damaged trailing arm to restore correct rear wheel geometry and safe handling.
