The brake rotor is the disc that the brake pads clamp against to slow the vehicle, and it must have sufficient thickness and a smooth surface to provide safe, consistent stopping. Signs of a worn or damaged rotor include: a pulsating or vibrating brake pedal, a visible lip or groove on the rotor edge, thickness below the manufacturer's minimum specification, or deep scoring across the braking surface. Replace worn rotors along with the pads for optimal braking performance and safety.
