The Clutch Master Cylinder is the "heart" of your vehicle's manual transmission hydraulic system.
When you press the clutch pedal, the master cylinder converts that mechanical pressure into hydraulic pressure. It pushes brake fluid through a line to the slave cylinder (or release bearing), which then physically disengages the clutch from the engine so you can shift gears.
Signs of a Failing Master Cylinder:
- A "spongy" or soft clutch pedal.
- Difficulty shifting into gear or grinding noises.
- The pedal stays on the floor after being pressed.
- Visible fluid leaks around the pedal assembly or in the engine bay.
