The CV joint boot is the rubber accordion-style cover that keeps grease inside the constant-velocity joint while keeping dirt and moisture out, and protecting the joint from premature wear. Signs of a failed boot include: grease thrown onto the wheel or suspension components, a clicking noise when turning that indicates the now-dry joint is wearing, or a visible tear or crack in the boot. Replace a torn boot immediately - a dry CV joint will fail in short order.
Mevotech manufactures chassis and suspension components with multiple product lines. Their Supreme and TTX lines offer good quality ball joints, control arms, and tie rod ends with enhanced features. Note: Avoid Mevotech Original Grade - it's budget-tier and below our quality threshold.
