["Engine Variable Valve Timing Sprocket"]
The VVT sprocket, also called a cam phaser, is the mechanism on the end of the camshaft that receives oil pressure from the VVT solenoid and advances or retards cam timing as needed. Signs of failure include: a rattling noise from the front of the engine on cold startup, VVT fault codes, or rough idle caused by incorrect camshaft timing. Replace a worn VVT sprocket along with the solenoid for a complete variable timing system repair.
