The engine oil drain plug seals the oil pan drain hole and is removed at every oil change to allow the old oil to drain completely. Signs of a failing drain plug include: a plug with stripped threads that will not seal properly, a cross-threaded or rounded plug head, or oil dripping from the drain hole after installation. Replace a damaged drain plug before the next oil change to ensure a clean, leak-free seal.
