The recovery tank cap maintains the pressure in the coolant recovery system, and a faulty cap can allow coolant to be lost or prevent the recovery system from functioning correctly. Signs of a bad cap include: coolant boiling out of the tank at normal operating temperature, a cap that does not hold pressure when tested, or coolant loss with no other visible source. Replace the cap as part of any major cooling system service.
