The cooling fan motor relay switches power to the electric cooling fan(s) based on commands from the engine control module or a coolant temperature switch. Signs of failure include: a fan that runs constantly regardless of temperature, a fan that never activates and causes overheating at low speeds, or a relay that clicks but fails to pass current. Replace a failed relay to restore proper automatic control of your cooling fan.
