The output shaft repair sleeve is installed over a worn or grooved shaft sealing surface to restore a smooth, consistent surface for the output shaft seal to ride against. Signs that a sleeve is needed include: a persistent transmission fluid leak at the rear of the transmission even after a new seal is installed, or a visible groove worn into the shaft by the old seal. Install a repair sleeve for a lasting fix rather than just replacing the seal again.
