The brake bleeder screw is a small valve on each brake caliper or wheel cylinder that allows air and old fluid to be purged from the brake hydraulic system during a bleed procedure. Signs of a bad bleeder screw include: a screw that is seized and will not open without breaking, visible rust or corrosion, or brake fluid seeping around the screw even when closed. Replace broken or leaking bleeder screws to make future brake services possible and prevent fluid loss.
