starter relay

The starter relay passes the high current needed to operate the starter motor when the ignition key is turned or the start button is pressed, protecting the ignition switch from carrying direct starter current. Signs of failure include: a clicking relay but no starter engagement, a no-start condition where the battery and starter test good but the circuit is not being completed, or a relay that has failed in the on position keeping the starter engaged. Replace a failed starter relay to restore proper starting circuit control.
