Caliper bracket mounting bolts attach the brake caliper bracket to the steering knuckle and must be torqued to exact specification to ensure the bracket cannot shift under braking load. Signs of a problem include: a loose bracket that causes the caliper to move during braking, a bolt with damaged threads or a stripped head, or corrosion that has locked the bolt in place. Always use new bolts with the correct thread-locking compound when replacing brake components.
