The CV axle shaft transmits engine torque from the transmission or differential to the driven wheels while accommodating suspension travel and steering movement through its constant-velocity joints. Signs of failure include: a clicking or popping noise when turning, a vibration felt through the floorboard at highway speed, or grease flung onto the inside of the wheel from a torn boot.
