On hybrid and electric vehicles, the inverter cooler circulates coolant through the power inverter assembly to keep the high-voltage electronics within their safe operating temperature range. Signs of failure include: an electric drive system warning light, the inverter entering a reduced power mode to protect itself from heat, or coolant leaking from the inverter cooling circuit.
