The fuel pump relay switches power to the fuel pump when the ignition is turned on, and is often controlled by the engine control module as a safety shutoff. Signs of failure include: a no-start condition where the fuel pump does not prime, or an engine that stalls and will not restart due to a relay that has failed open. Replace a failed fuel pump relay to restore power to the fuel pump.
