Radiator coolant hoses carry pressurized coolant between the engine and the radiator and are subject to heat, pressure, and age-related deterioration. Signs of failure include: a visible bulge, crack, or leak at the hose or its connections, a hose that feels hard and brittle or soft and mushy when squeezed, or a coolant leak that appears only when the system is hot and pressurized. Replace aged or damaged coolant hoses before they burst and cause rapid coolant loss and overheating.
