The transmission oil pan holds the supply of automatic transmission fluid at the base of the transmission and houses the filter and magnet that catch metallic debris. Signs of failure include: a red transmission fluid drip from the pan gasket or drain plug, a pan that is visibly damaged from road impact, or a corroded pan with no serviceable drain plug threads. Replace a damaged transmission pan to stop leaks and restore a proper fluid reservoir.
