The transmission oil pump seal prevents fluid from leaking around the pump, which is responsible for generating the hydraulic pressure that engages gears and operates the torque converter. Signs of a leaking pump seal include: a red fluid trail from the front of the transmission, low fluid levels, or slipping caused by insufficient hydraulic pressure. Replace the seal before low fluid levels cause widespread internal damage.
