Control arm bushings are rubber or polyurethane inserts at each end of the control arm that allow controlled movement while isolating road vibration from the chassis. Signs of worn bushings include: a clunking, creaking, or knocking noise from the suspension over bumps, imprecise steering feel, uneven tire wear, or visible cracking and deterioration of the rubber. Replace worn bushings before the metal-to-metal contact damages the control arm itself.
