The thermostat housing is the cast or molded unit that contains the thermostat and provides the connection point for the upper radiator hose and coolant temperature sensor. Signs of a failing housing include: coolant leaking from the housing body or where the hose attaches, a crack visible in the housing material, or a housing that has warped and no longer seals properly. Replace a cracked or warped housing to eliminate the leak and protect the engine from coolant loss.
