Exhaust bolt and spring assemblies are used on some flanged exhaust connections to allow slight movement and thermal expansion while maintaining a sealed joint. Signs of failure include: an exhaust leak at the spring-loaded flange, visible corrosion or breakage of the spring, or a flange that leaks despite tightening. Replace worn bolt and spring sets to restore a flexible, leak-free exhaust joint.
